As the Carpenter, you will be responsible for repairs, renovations and improvements to our multi-unit residential buildings and sites. This work will include building and/or improving a variety of components on fully occupied apartment and townhome sites. As the Carpenter, you must have a good working knowledge of the residential construction industry and uphold tenant and staff safety while delivering high quality workmanship on all aspects of the project.

Your contributions to the team include:

  • Renovating existing apartment suites and up-grading common areas and offices
  • Cutting and installing interior trim – window casings, door casings and baseboards
  • Interior building system renovations such as building floors, walls, installing trusses and sheeting
  • Building fences, decks, and ramps
  • Replacing doors and windows
  • Minor concrete repairs of curbs and sidewalks
  • Supervising other workers on site
  • Other related duties as required

What you need to be successful:

  • Completion of a Building Maintenance Worker program or equivalent
  • Experience in building restorations an asset
  • Knowledge of residential construction and remodeling trades’ practices and codes
  • Experience with exterior construction; door and window replacements including installing siding
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical services
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a changing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Comfortable working at heights
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
